Foundation for SAAC Scholarship

The Robert L. Krueger Memorial Scholarship for Academic Excellence and Achievement up to $2,500.00 yearly
Open to daughters and sons of individuals in the promotional products industry, the Foundation for SAAC Scholarship Program and The Robert L. Krueger Memorial Scholarship recognize and encourage academic performance, intellectual growth and achievement, and encourage personal growth through participation in extracurricular activities within the civic and academic community.
Scholarships are awarded on the basis of several factors, including but not limited to the student’s academic achievement, results of ACT or SAT tests, scholastic and civic leadership. The scholarship programs do not discriminate on the basis of race, sex, religion, national origin or disability.
Scholarships are renewable on a year to year basis (not to exceed 5 years) provided the student demonstrates continuous progress towards the degree and satisfies the SAAC Foundation Committee’s rules. Applications for renewal can be requested from the foundation or the SAAC Office and must be received at the office by April 15 for consideration for the next school year. A letter from applicant stating how the scholarship was used and why they feel they continue to deserve the scholarship must be attached to the application. Only applications with official transcripts will be considered.
The Foundation Scholarship Committee will determine the annual recipients of scholarship awards.
Eligibility
Applicants must be dependents of regularly employed or full-time employees, independent contractors, owners or operators, whose business encompasses the sale, marketing, manufacturing or distribution of advertising specialties. The business must have been a member of SAAC (Specialty Advertising Association of California) for over 12 months. Foundation for SAAC Board members and their dependents are not eligible to apply.
The student’s parent or guardian must present evidence of involvement and work in the field or industry of specialty advertising for a period of one year prior to the date of application for a scholarship award. Students who receive a full or 100% scholarship (academic, athletic, fraternal or other) from another provider are not eligible for this program.
The Robert L. Krueger Memorial Scholarship may be awarded on the above criteria, to an applying student whose parents or guardians are associated with a SAAC member company headquartered in Southern California. The applying student must be a junior or above in any college, university or institution of higher learning, in a recognized course of study. The scholarship will be awarded to the highest academic ranked student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, from the group applying for general scholarship funds. No special application is required.
Requirements:
- For graduating high school seniors, a certified copy of their High School credits must be submitted no later than April 15.
- Students must be either entering, or be presently enrolled in an accredited secondary school.
- The applicant must register as a full time student.
- The application must contain the following components to be considered complete. Incomplete applications will not be considered.
- the personal application form
- an essay, not to exceed 250 words.
- proof of request for SAT/ACT results and grade transfers from an accredited school.
- SAT or ACT test results or grade transfers from a high school or secondary school official must be received at the SAAC Office by April 15th.
- Applications received after April 15 will not be considered.
Other Information:
Scholarship awards funded by the Foundation for SAAC must be used to help cover expenses for room, board, tuition and books or other materials directly attributable to course curriculum at an accredited college or university.
In the event that there are more qualified applicants than scholarships available, the scholarships will be awarded to students at the Foundation’s discretion. In addition, the dollar amounts of the scholarship may vary based on the number of applicants or the amount of money in the scholarship fund, with a limit of three per Member Company.
Winners of the scholarships will be announced in May of each year. Scholarship funds will be available 30 days prior to first day of classes. Proof of registration, a list of courses and credit hours must be submitted prior to distribution of funds.
